KIN
A MONTHLY SPACE OF EARTH CONNECTION
Weaving a reciprocal relationship with our human and beyond human kin.
DECEMBER
Tree Medicine
“Trees are sanctuaries. Whoever knows how to speak to them, whoever knows how to listen to them, can learn the truth. They do not preach learning and precepts, they preach, undeterred by particulars, the ancient law of life.” - Herman Hesse
As we enter December, we begin our descent into Winter, the portals of the North, and the season of the Earth. This is a special time of holy days, the Winter Solstice, gathering with loved ones, releasing into the fertile darkness, and finding solace in the warmth of hearth and home. We are invited to bring our energy down into our roots and surrender into the restoration of the Earth. During this season, I feel the voice and hearts of the trees calling out so clearly, having much to mirror, share, and gift to us. Evergreens may be invited into homes to adorn and admire and gather around their energy, tree-wood is being burned in the fire for warmth, and the smell of the trees waft through the air around us. Tree Kin hold ancient and special energy, carrying deep wisdom and a nurturing + warm embrace.
This month we will connect with the medicine of the trees. Through communing with the trees out in nature and building a relationship with them through various practices. It will be a really special and sacred month with our Tree Kin and our community together.
Tree Communion, meditation, drum journeying, dreaming, sacred smoke, and winter medicine making are to be explored <3

“Learn to love the land you are in relationship with and allow the Earth to love you back. We have forgotten to love the Earth as Mother, as lover, as child. We have also forgotten to be in a reciprocal sensual relationship of opening ourselves to be transformed by the touch, love, nourishment, and spirit of the Earth.
Modern humans often dwell in a romantic story of finding the “perfect partner” who will meet all of their needs, but it is impossible for one personal to fulfill all roles. It is possible to receive love and support from all directions, seen and unseen, from others and from ourselves. We can love and be loved by humans and nonhumans and find deep nourishment from the love in Nature.”
- Marysia Miernowska in her book, Witch’s Herbal Apothecary.
